The Prison in Twelve Landscapes is a film by documentary filmmaker Brett Story which explores the prison system and its effects without ever showing an actual penitentiary. Working with Brett and referencing still images from the film we created a visual blend of stark administrative typography, as found on highways signs, and the human touch of a watercolour painting of a lone tree, soon-to-be the site of a new prison development. This intertwining of landscape and type continued throughout a series of postcards featuring stills from the film and press kit.
